Children's Fun Party Games!

♦Balloon Race♦

Put the children in two teams and give each child a balloon.

Each child in turn has to get from the start to the finish holding the balloon between his Knees.

If they drop the balloon they have to go back to the start and start again.

When both teams have finished the game is over.

♦What's the Time Mr Wolf?♦

One child is chosen to be the wolf and stand out the front with his back to the other children.

The other children stand on a line.

They start to creep up behind the wolf saying Whats the time Mr Wolf?

The wolf can turn around and say 3'O clock, or 6 o clock or any time he likes and the children have to stand still.

If the calls out DINNER TIME the children have to run back to the start without getting caught by the wolf.

If they are caught they have to sit down on the line and are out.

The child left at the end is the next wolf

♦Freeze Tag♦

The birthday child is IT first and runs around trying to catch the other children.

Anyone who is caught must freeze and stand as still as possible. They cannot move again until another child touches them and unfreezes them.

Whoever is tagged twice becomes the next IT.

When the child playing IT changes , any player who is still frozen can unfreeze.

The games starts over again.

♦Follow the Leader♦

The children line up in a line behind a leader.

They then have to follow the leader and do all the actions he does.

The leader can walk then wave arms then jump and so on and all the other children have to do the same.

After a while a new leader can be chosen.

♦Switch♦

This is a quiet game. Divide the children into two teams and take Team A into another room. Team A must switch various items of clothing or accessories with one another, then return to the game room. Team B must try to guess all the switches that have been made within a five-minute time period. Add up how many items Team B guessed correctly. Then let Team B have a turn to "switch" and let Team A guess the switches. The team with the most correct answers in the allotted time period wins a prize.

♦Feather Blow♦

Give each of the kids a feather. When you say, "GO!" they have to start blowing the feather in the air. Whoever can keep the feather in the air the longest (using only his/her breath) is the winner. This game can also be played in teams (the team to keep the feather in the air longest using only breath wins).

♦Name That Animal♦

This is a fun game for small children just beginning to learn their animals. Pass out animal stickers or small stuffed animals, and have the kids imitate the animal they receive. It is up to you whether or not you allow sounds. Older children may enjoy just using actions.

♦Sense-Sational♦

Test their powers of smell! Fill paper bags with a variety of items that have an aroma, such as coffee beans, salami, toothpaste, orange peels, chocolate, and so on. Be sure the smells are familiar to the age group. Then pass the bags around and let the kids smell them without looking inside! Give prizes to whoever guessed them all correctly (or whoever guessed the most correctly). With preschool aged children you will need to have someone write the guesses for them. Best for those 7 years and up.

♦Telephone♦

Have the kids sit in a circle on the floor. The first player begins by whispering a phrase into the ear of the person next to him/her. One by one, each person repeats the whispered phrase as they hear it when it is whispered to them. When the last person receives the message, he/she repeats it out loud. It is usually completely different to the original statement.

This game can also be played with goofy faces. The first person makes a goofy face, and then turns (with the goofy look on his/her face) to the next person. The goofy look is passed on until the last person and the first person compare goofy faces.

♦Poor Kitty♦

Arrange the group in a circle with a blindfolded player in the center.
Then have the players move around the circle very quietly.
The blindfolded player should approach the circle in any direction
and secure a victim who, in a disguised voice, says 'poor kitty' and then imitates the 'meow' of a cat. If  the blindfolded player fails to identify his prisoner, he releases him and the game continues. If he succeeds,
the two change places.

Fun Floating
Race the clock to see which team can gather the most floating objects
from the pool; rubber ducks, bath toys, cut foam noodle pieces etc.

Ice Cube Race
Dived the children into pairs. One player will retrieve ice cubes out of the pool using only your feet and pass them to their team mate who is outside of the pool.

Flip Flop Fantastic
Every child gets one flip flop sandal and has to search the yard for it's match. The pair is a prize to take home!

Relay Race
Divide the group into two teams
Equipment: 2 pairs of XL board shorts, 2 pairs of sunglasses
2 Straw Hats ,2 Beach bags, 2 Beach chairs
Each team lines up in a row. Place chairs a reasonable running distance in front of each team or any distance your space will allow. The objects listed above are placed into the beach bags and located with each team. The first runners dress in ALL of the items, run to the chair, return and take all of the items off again. The next players continue until the entire team has had a turn.

Bobbing for Flip-Flops
Fill a LARGE tub with water. Before the party, use a permanent
marker to write either a 1,2,or 3 on each flip flop and place them
into the tub of water. Create 3 corresponding prize bags
(grocery bags). Write 1,2,or 3 onto the bags and fill them
with candy bars, gum or other inexpensive items.
To play
Two players at a time hold their hands behind their backs and they must use their teeth to grab a flip-flop. They then collect a prize from the bag that matches the # on the one they "caught".

Squirt Gun Targets
Insert large plastic yard pinwheels into the ground.
Place an X on the ground a reasonable distance from the pinwheels.
Provide squirt guns or "super soaks". Players take turns standing
on the X and use the pinwheel as a target.

POOL BIRTHDAY PARTY FAVORS
Say "thanks for coming", with fun and unique party favors.
Add a Flip-flop decorating activity to the party and they'll have
a fun gift to take home. It's easy with inexpensive flip flops, ribbons,
silk flowers and / or beads. Use craft glue if necessary.
Our favorite pool party favor ideas are provide below:
A bottle of fun sun-screen, small beach ball and/or a squirt gun
and a few sweet treats. Place the items in a plastic sand pail.

Fill a plastic poolside cup with a lip sun block, bright colored candy
and plastic shaped ice cubes to use all through the summer!

A beach towel and sunglasses for each guest, will make a special party favor for smaller parties. However, it can be costly if your guest list is
larger than a few children.

Baby Shower Games!

1) Guess Mom's Tummy Size: (Materials- String or yarn and scissors) Have each woman pull the yarn to the size they believe would fit perfectly around the Mother-To-Be's center of her pregnant tummy. After everyone cuts their string, compare the results to the Mommy-To-Be's actual tummy. Give a prize to the woman who is the most close! This is a baby shower favorite.

2) Never say "Baby": (Materials- baby safety pins or another type of baby object you can place on a string for each woman at the party as well as string or yarn, enough for each woman to wear as a necklace). Have each woman place the necklace with the baby safety pins around her neck when she gets to the party. The rules for this baby shower game are given out at the beginning of the baby shower that whenever someone says the word "baby" during the shower, any woman who calls it out gets a pin from the other woman who stated the word. At the end of the baby shower, the woman with the most pins wins a prize.

3) How Many Baby Items Can You Name: (Materials- pad of paper and pen for each woman). Have each woman write down as many baby products as they can name (bottle, blanket, pacifier, etc) within 5 minutes. Sure it is easy at the beginning, but towards the last few minutes, the women will start racking their brains for more :) Give a prize to the woman who gets the most baby products named!

4) Who Can Make The Mother-To-Be's Baby: (Materials - Baby magazines, Scissors, Glue, Paper). Have the women group up into teams of 3 and give each 3 baby magazines. Have them cut out pieces of different baby qualities and put together a picture of what they think the Mother-To-Be's baby will look like. Have the Mother-To-Be pick which baby would possibly look like hers the best! Give prizes to the winning team! One of the top baby shower games!

5) Guess The Gerber's: (Materials - Gerber's infant food, pads of paper and pens). Take the labels off of the baby food jars and have the women at the baby shower guess the food (carrots, peas, sweet potato). Most fun to play up to 10 jars of different kinds of foods. If there is a tie, blindfold the women and have them taste one of the jars and guess the right flavor to win their prize.

6) Guess How Many Safety Pins: (Materials- Safety Pins and Jar). Pass around a jar full of baby safety pins. The one who guesses the closest wins a baby shower prize. A baby shower game favorite!

You can also add cute clothes pins by getting a few packs and using them for the baby shower game, then spreading them around the tables as decorations!

7) How Well Do You Know Mommy-To-Be: (Materials- Pre-Printed Form and pen for each woman). Have each women guess what features she wants most on the baby from either her or her husband (Daddy-To-Be). An example of this idea is found below:

AttributeMommyDaddy
EyesX
Ears X
NoseX
Legs X
HairX
Smile X
Intelligence X
HumorX
OtherX

Select 25 attributes and ask everyone to fill in the form from what each woman feels the "mommy-to-be's" point of view" will be. After everyone checks off the list, have the mommy-to-be state her preference. The one with the most correct match to the Mommy-To-Be wins a prize. This is a great baby shower game!

8) Place The Baby On The Mommy: (Materials- Cutouts of a baby with tape and blindfold). Another one of our favorite baby shower games is the baby shower version of Pin The Tail on the Donkey. Blindfold each participant and then give them a paper baby to then approach the mom and place the baby as close to the tummy as possible. The one who gets closest to placing the paper baby on the pregnant tummy wins.

9) Bottle Races: (Materials- Baby bottles with Milk or alternate drink). Have each participant take a bottle filled with a liquid and suck the bottle as a baby would. The woman who drinks the most in an allotted time wins the baby shower gift. This baby shower game gets everyone laughing!

10) Baby Bingo: (Materials- Pens, Pre-Printed Bingo cards that use the numbers of how many people attend the baby shower) Prior to opening the baby shower gifts, number each gift on the box starting with one. If you know that 15 people will be attending your shower, preprint bingo cards with numbers 1 through 15 and randomly place them on 15 cards. When the mommy-to-be decided to open the presents, she grabs the present she wants to open and reads the number out loud. As soon as someone receives bingo, they win the baby shower game and the baby shower prize.

11) "B" is for Baby: (Materials paper and pens passed out to all the women). Each woman is told to write the babies Mom-To-Be and Father-To-Be's name on a paper going vertically down the page. Next to each letter of both names, create a word that is baby related or things that kids like. An example of using the names Kim and Dan:

K= kiteD=drool
I= ice creamA=alphabet
M= motherN=nap

The one who guesses the most words that are the same as the mother-to-be wins a prize.

12) Guess the baby item: (Materials- any baby products and blindfold). A bag of baby items are placed in front of the mother-to-be for her to take one item out at a time blindfolded and tell her baby shower guests what item she has in her hands. This is really fun baby shower game when you choose some crazy baby toys or products.

13) Finish the Baby Rhyme: (Materials- baby rhyme game or a book containing the rhymes). Have the host read out loud a part of the rhyme to be finished by the other women.
Let's see how many Baby Shower Guests can finish the following Rhymes we have all grown up with:

1) Mary had a little lamb, it's _____________ was white as snow.

2) Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any _____________?

3) Mary, Mary, quite _____________, how does your garden grow?

4) Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a tub, and how do you think ____________ _____________ ____________?

5) Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, _________________ ________________!

6) Little Jack Horner, sat in a corner, eating his ______________ pie;

7) Little Miss Muffet, sat on a tuffet, eating her ________________ and _______________.

8) Peter Piper picked a peck of ____________ _____________.

9) One, two, buckle my shoe, three four, _____________ at the door.

10) Peter, Peter, pumpkin-eater, had a wife but couldn't ____________ her.

11) Old Mother Hubbard, went to the _______________.

12) There was an old woman, who lived in a _______________.

13) Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no ___________.

14) Hey diddle, diddle, the ____________ and the fiddle.

15) Rock-a-bye baby, on the __________________.

Here are the answers below to the questions. It is great to give the winner a baby shower small gift for participating. Read the answers that people have put out loud since you will have some funny ones.

14) Guess the baby pictures: Ask for every one's pictures prior to the baby shower. Have all the pictures in a collage and make lines for people to fill in who they think the babies are out of the girls at the baby shower. If most women don't know each other, just have the pictures of the mother, mother-in-law, sisters, and mommy-to-be. See how many people guess right. You can make copies of the baby picture collage to see how many can guess right!

15) Baby Scrambler: Another fun baby shower game is to choose around 25 baby related items and scramble the spelling. For instance, pacifier can be changed to reiifpca. Have the women unscramble the words. The one who gets the most right in 5 min receives a baby shower prize.

16) Baby Song List: (Materials - pad of paper and pen for each woman). Have each woman write down in 5 minutes all the songs that have baby in their titles (i.e., baby love, Santa baby, one for my baby). You can make it harder by stating that you have to name who also wrote the songs! A baby shower favorite!

17) Pass the Dirty Diaper: (Materials- diaper, chocolate, music player). One of our "dirtiest" baby shower games is for the host to take a diaper that has been "fixed" with warm chocolate in the right place and have the woman pass it to the woman next to them (make sure everyone is in a circle). When the host stops the music, whomever is holding the diaper is out of the game. a baby shower favorite!

18) Place the pacifier in the babies mouth: (Materials- blindfold, create a baby picture and a few pacifier drawings with one for each woman). Tape a picture or drawing of a baby on the wall and have the blindfolded women try to tape the pacifier as close to the mouth of the baby as possible (The baby shower version of Pin The Tail on the Donkey).

19) Blindfold Diapering: (Materials- blindfold, baby life-size doll(s), diapers). One of the funniest baby shower games is for the women break into teams (up to five persons per team). Each team has a doll, blindfold and diapers. The object is for each participant to place the blindfold on, take the current diaper off the doll and place the new one on while blindfolded. After the first person finishes diapering, they run to the next team-mate who places the blindfold on and has to do the same. The first team to finish diapering wins!

20) Baby Tic-Tac-Toe: (Materials- Large paper or erasable board to make the tic-tac-toe board, writing utensil, and baby facts). People are broken up in teams and have to answer a question about a baby fact. If they get the answer right, they get to choose a space (like the classic tic-tac-toe game).

1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
One 9 oz. package chocolate kisses, unwrapped

♦ Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches! ♦

A small amount of corn syrup and vegetable oil in the dough prevents the cookies from becoming rock hard when the sandwiches go in the freezer. The cookies are delicious on their own too.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tbsp. light corn syrup
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
One 10 to 12 oz. package chocolate chips or chunks, regular or mini-sized M&Ms
3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
5 cups vanilla ice cream
1. To make the cookies, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly butter several large baking sheets. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, stir the butter, sugars, oil, and corn syrup until combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract until blended, and then the flour mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if desired.

2. Using a 1/4 cup measure, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 3 inches between the cookies. (For smaller cookies, use 2 tablespoons of dough). Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until the cookies are browned lightly. Remove the sheets to wire racks and cool for about 5 minutes. Using a metal spatula, transfer the cookies to racks and cool completely. Repeat until all the dough is used.

3. To assemble sandwiches, let the ice cream soften in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Spread 1/2 cup of ice cream on the bottom of one cookie. Place a second cookie, bottom side down, on top of the ice cream. Repeat until all the cookies are used, wrapping each sandwich individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Freeze for about two hours or until firm. If the sandwich cookies have become too hard, let them stand at room temperature before serving. Makes 8 large or 16 small ice cream sandwiches.

Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in black sugar to coat entire ball. Place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.

Immediately insert 4 licorice pieces into each cookie to form legs. Move cookies to cooling rack. Cool completely.

To add eyes, place a tiny dab of decorator gel or frosting onto cookie; gently press on candy.

Store between sheets of waxed paper in containers with tight-fitting lid.

Recipe Tip
If necessary, poke toothpick or skewer into cookies so licorice pieces can easily be inserted for legs.

Recipe Tip
Place black decorator sugar in a clean, dry, glass bowl. This prevents sugar from getting too greasy and allows it to stick to the dough. You may need to occasionally start with fresh sugar if sugar isn’t sticking. Do not let the sugar get wet or it will dissolve.

Recipe Tip
Use any color decorator sugar to roll the dough balls to create a variety of bugs.

CANDY CORN COOKIES!

These bite-sized treats resemble candy corn and have a hint of yummie orange flavor!

Preparation time: 45 min   Baking time: 7 min
Yield: 15 dozen miniature cookies

1 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 teaspoons freshly grated orange peel
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Orange paste or gel food color
Yellow paste or gel food color

1/2 cup sugar

Line bottom and sides of 9x5-inch loaf pan with waxed paper or plastic food wrap. Set aside.

Combine butter and 1 cup sugar in large bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add egg, orange juice, orange peel and salt. Continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour and baking soda. Beat until well mixed.

Divide dough into thirds. Press one-third of white dough evenly onto bottom of prepared pan. Place another one-third of dough back into same bowl. Add small amount of orange food color; mix until color is well blended. Press orange dough evenly over white dough in pan. Place remaining one-third of dough into another medium bowl. Add small amount of yellow food color; mix until color is well blended. Press yellow dough evenly over orange dough in pan. Cover with plastic food wrap; refrigerate until firm (at least 2 hours or overnight).

Place 1/2 cup sugar in large bowl; set aside.

Heat oven to 375°F. Invert loaf pan to remove dough. Peel off waxed paper. Place layered dough onto cutting surface. Cut loaf crosswise into 1/4-inch slices using sharp knife, trimming edges to make even, if necessary. Cut each slice into 6 wedges. Place 1-inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are very lightly browned. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. Immediately place warm cookies in bowl with sugar; roll in sugar to coat. Place cookies onto cooling rack. Cool completely.

Store in loosely covered container.

VARIATION:
Chocolate Candy Corn: Prepare dough as directed except stir 1 (1-ounce) square melted semi-sweet baking chocolate into one-third of white dough. Tint one-third of dough orange and one-third yellow. Place chocolate dough into prepared pan; layer with orange and yellow dough. Cut and bake as directed.

Recipe Tip
Fill cellophane gift bags with cookies and give as Halloween treats.

Recipe Tip
Gel or paste food color is found in the baking isle of many supermarkets or cake decorating stores. If using liquid food color, use a drop of yellow and red to make orange.

Recipe Tip
These cookies can be made ahead and stored in the freezer up to 1 month. Store in container with tight-fitting lid.
